Roberts R55 Portable All Dry Battery Portable Valve Radio

The Roberts R55 was introduced in April 1954 at £11. 18s.
It is a 4 valve 2 waveband radio covering the medium and long wavebands from an internal ferrite rod aerial and featuring slow motion tuning.
With this model, Roberts made another reduction in their radio cabinets size after the 'MR', 'BR' and 'CR' models but they retained the high quality of these portable sets with great sound performance and high quality electronics..
This is a great example of the Roberts R55 radio which is housed in a beautiful Navy Blue leather covered strong wooden case with a leather carry strap.
This is a nearly 60 years old radio and it is all in absolutely excellent cosmetic condition for its age with only a few minor marks. It is a very rare valve radio with early serial number- 2385.
The R55 radio works very well on both wavebands with scratch free controls and has wonderful sound performance from its original Rola speaker.
