The Black Knight RP74 was introduced in 1973 and it is the only Hacker FM only Radio.
It is one of the 'must have' sets for any serious radio collectors and at the same time is a great radio for everyday use. The Black Knight is one of the rarer Hackers and even rarer in this condition. It is closely related to the Sovereign III RP72 being a dedicated FM only version and is one of the best looking Hacker models.
The RP74 is simply classic, it is housed in a very large and strong wooden cabinet covered with black leather trimmings and aluminium grille. It has a strong metal carry handle.
The Black Knight is one of the real high quality Hackers, it is designed to optimise the sound reproduction quality obtainable from the FM Band. It has separate bass and treble controls for fine tuning of the audio quality. It has a separate audio module giving 1.5W at less than 1% distortion into a 7"x 5" elliptical loudspeaker.
It also has switchable AFC for accurate tuning and station good locking. There are 5 movable station markers, a 5pin DIN socket and a socket for an external aerial

This radio has been recently fully checked and serviced and is in remarkable cosmetic condition. The tuning scale with shiny knobs, grille and rexine leatherette cover all look exceptional. The original 33" swivel base aerial extands in full. This is a rare, complete and original Radio. Of course it is a used radio more than 40 years old and it is bound to have at least a few minor marks.
This Hacker radio is not only in stunning cosmetic condition but it is also working perfectly with smooth and scratch free controls and selector buttons with superb sound quality.
The radio will work direct from the UK 240Volt mains (mains lead supplied) or from 8 'D' cells (not supplied). The battery box is present and clean with no signs of any spills.
