The radio for sale is an early version of the R900 with the thick beveled sounding board at the front and the thick rear cover to the extremely strong wooden case.
The front and rear are trimmed in beautiful brown leathercloth and it has teak wooden ends.
The Roberts R900 - a great performance of sound, high quality and class - one of the very best Roberts radio sets.
In the past years we have sold many of these radios and all of them were in excellent condition and this one is great too. The brown leather covered cabinet, knobs, wooden ends and handle are all in excellent condition.
The swivel-base aerial is complete and fully extendable. Considering that this radio is 35 years old it is normal to have some tiny age related marks and to be expected but in general it is in superb condition.
The radio works very well on all wavebands with smooth and scratch free controls and has a wonderful sound from its large speaker.
I have provided lots of clear close up photos of the radio in order to see the cosmetic condition in detail.
The R900 is a mains or battery portable with three integrated circuits and covers the long and medium wavebands plus the full VHF FM band from 88MHz to 108 MHz.
It has a 32" telescopic aerial for FM reception and an internal ferrite rod for the AM wavebands.
There is also a headphone socket which mutes the internal speaker, a 5 pin DIN socket for tape recorder etc. and separate rotary bass and treble tone controls. It has a strong plastic covered metal carry handle.
The radio stands on the usual Roberts turntable base for the best reception from the internal ferrite rod.
It works on either a 9Volt PP9 battery (not supplied) or direct from the mains (a mains lead Supplied on request only)).
