Vintage 1970's Hacker Hunter AM/FM RP38A
Portable Transistor Radio
a colour copy of the Original Hacker Technical Data
Dimensions: 11" x 8" x 4"
The AM/FM Hunter RP38A was introduced in 1970 as an improved version of the RP38 Hunter.
It is a three waveband portable covering the Medium, Long and VHF FM bands.
AM reception is from an internal ferrite rod and there is a swivel base telescopic aerial for VHF.
There is a separate perspex covered VHF tuner module.
A special circuit adjusts the operating conditions correctly as battery volts decrease minimising distortion at low voltages and extending battery life. 1.5 Wats is available from the audio module feeding a large elliptical speaker and there are separate rotary bass and treble controls.
Automatic AFC gives frequency correction and station locking on VHF.
There are sockets for headphones and external or car aerial connection.
The radio is housed in a strong wooden cabinet with black leather trimmings and polished teak ends. It has a strong metal carry handle.
This Hacker Hunter RP38A is an original and complete radio set and is in excellent
cosmetic condition. It has a clean dial, original shiny knobs and buttons, unmarked and very clean aluminium grille and handle, the black leathercloth is free from any bad scratches and tears.
The teak wooden ends are in excellent condition too.
The original aerial is complete and fully extendable. The interior is clean and free from any battery spills.
The Hacker Hunter RP38A is an attractive radio set and it is one of the best sounding radios. It is very rare to find a radio which is nearly 50 years old in this superb condition - a great example for any transistor radio collectors or someone who likes the real vintage radio quality and amazing sound.
Fully checked and serviced this Hacker radio is not only in superb cosmetic condition but it is also working very well on all wavebands with smooth and scratch free controls and selector buttons with great sound quality.
As usual my listings are provided with a good range of clear close up photos of the item for sale. Please enlarge them in order to see the cosmetic condition in detail.
The radio requires two 9Volt batteries or will work from an external 18Volt power supply (neither supplied)
