1950's Red Roberts RT1 Portable Transistor Radio

The RT1 was Roberts First Transistor radio and has MW/LW coverage and a ferrite rod aerial.
The RT1 model was designed by Leslie Bidmead on a printed circuuit board.
This iconic classic RT1 Roberts Radio has been cleaned internally and externally and fully checked and serviced and it is all in excellent condition for circa 60 years old radio - all of the fittings are bright, the correct knobs are complete with their shiny brass inserts, a new identical strap is fitted, the "Roberts" badge is complete, the grille is clean and bright, it has a clear tuning scale with slow motion tuning and the leathercloth is in beautiful and clean condition.
It has a ferrite rod aerial and is fitted with the usual Roberts ball bearing turntable base to turn the radio for the best reception.
The radio is working very well on both wavebands.
PLEASE NOTE : This is a 6 volt radio and should not be used with a 9 volt battery. The correct 6 Volt battery is no longer available so a battery box holding 4 x 1.5 Volt "D" size cells is fitted to overcome the problem. (batteries are not included)
A beautiful Red Roberts RT1 radio - they are becoming very rare in this complete and remarkable condition.
This is 60 years old radio set and therefore it is normal to have some signs of use but considering its age this RT1 is in absolutely amazing condition.
