1940's Vintage Ekco 'Stroller' MBP99(B)
Portable Mains/Battery Valve Radio

a copy of the Original 'Trader' Service Sheet
The MPB99 was introduced in June 1949 with an original price of £16. 7s. 11d.
It is a four valve three waveband (MW, LW, SW) all dry battery/mains radio.
Valves : DK91, DF91, DAF91, DL94 + half wave metal rectifier.
This is the first of the 'Stroller' series of the portables by EK Cole. It follows the pattern of many sets of the time in its design and circuitry - only its inclusion of the SW band is unique.
Some 5000 sets were made in a 'Model A' configuration which only had two frame aerials (SW and MW) whilst the later 'Model B' had a complement of three aerials. Interestingly there were also two versions of this radio using different intermediate frequencies. The Northern England version has an IF of 460Kc/s (noted by a large 'N' stamped inside the case) whilst the version for Southern England has an IF of 455Kc/s. (The radio for sale is a 455Kc/s version)
This radio has been completely restored and serviced and is all in excellent condition. Please enlarge the photos to see the cosmetic condition in details.
It is working very well on all wavebands on mains and batteries (checked on mains and with amplion convette PSU)
